It has begun!

Click on the thumbnail image to see several computer drawings of the playground we are building. Then be sure to check back the following week for pictures of the actual playground!

Volunteer

If you've come to the site to sign up to volunteer, there's no need to sign up. Construction has begun, but we can still use all the help we can get! Come build with us! (Even if it's raining... We will have a giant tent to work under if we have a few showers.)

  • 8AM - 5PM March 22-25th: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Coffee, snacks, water and lunch provided.

Daily Schedule

  • Thursday and Friday: FRAMING DAYS. We will be setting posts, painting, organizing and fabricating the structures.
  • Saturday and Sunday: RAISING DAYS. We will be putting up all the structures, spreading mulch, sanding and enjoying seeing the project come together.

Tools

Sturdy work clothes, hardy shoes, and gloves recommended. Bring extra gloves if you can! We need you to bring your own tools if you have them. We will have many lenders but not enough to go around. We especially need Drills (all types), Extension Cords, Belt sanders, and Extension Cord Splitters. These are always in high demand on the job site. Cordless tools will be extremely helpful - Don't forget extra batteries and charger! For those of you who have kindly offered to lend tools for the whole build, we will be at the playground on Tuesday from 6-7:30 and Wednesday from 5-7:30 to collect, label, and make a list of your tools. Your tools will be kept in a secure location for the duration of the build. You will be able to fetch your tools back on Sunday afternoon/evening when we are done or Monday evening.

Download the tool list here.

Directions

The address is 4909 St. Elmo Ave Chattanooga, TN, 37409. Map it. Go to St. Elmo at the foot of Lookout Mtn. Head to Georgia on St. Elmo Ave. Look at Street sign until you see 49th St. Just past 49th you will see a small parking lot on the right. This is the construction landing zone. Use this small parking lot to drop off tools, food and materials.

Parking

Please find parking around the neighborhood somewhere close by and walk back after you have dropped your tools. You can definitely park at the Church of Christ at the corner of 48th St.

Thanks Much,
